In CustomerOS, Products are a category of products or services that you provide to your customers.

For a SaaS company, these products could be subscriptions or usage. For a professional services company, these could be hours or retainers.

They are used primarily to simplify reporting and make it easier for you to manage large quantities of customers in a streamlined fashion.

Product Object

The Product Object consists of 3 main fields: Name, Type and Default Price

The Name can be changed at any point and will be inherited by any line items that are added to your customer’s Contracts. The Default Price is only used at the creation of line items and if the Default Price is updated, it won’t impact any prices of any line items added to your customer’s Contracts. The only field that cannot be changed after Product creation is the Type.

Currently CustomerOS supports two types of products: Subscriptions and One-Time.

You can edit and archive Products at any time. Archiving a Product will only make it unavailable for use going forward, it will not impact the invoicing or reporting of any existing line items linked to that Product.
